Library Foundation Seeking Board Members
Position:
Board Members support the work of the Library Foundation and provide mission based leadership and fundraising to support the programs and technology of the Safety Harbor Public Library. This is an opportunity for an individual who is passionate about libraries, specifically the Safety Harbor Public Library. Selected Board Members will have achieved leadership stature in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector. A copy of the Board Member Agreement can be found here.
Qualifications:
· Willing to serve and take on special assignments
· Represents the Foundation to stakeholders and acts as an ambassador for the organization
· Creative fundraising experience and/or accounting background desired
· Ability to solicit contributions from businesses and individuals
Board terms/participation:
Board Members will serve a two-year term to be eligible for re-appointment and must be available to attend board meetings typically held the Third Tuesday monthly at 5:30 pm in Safety Harbor. BOARD MEMBERS:
President: Debbie White - Debbie is the chair of the Foundation's 20/20 capital campaign, Let's Build a Story. She has been involved in many Pinellas County non-profits as a volunteer for the past 30 years including President of the Safety Harbor Chamber of Commerce, the YWCA of Tampa Bay and Leadership Pinellas. Her current board involvement includes Big Brothers Big Sisters of Pinellas and Morton Plant Mease Health Care Foundation and she is on the Advisory Boards of Dunedin Fine Arts Center and Clothes to Kids. She had a 20 year career in sales in Tampa Bay and Boston, MA and graduated with a B.S. in Economics from Allegheny College in Meadville, PA.
Vice President: Marie Padavich - Marie is a retired Vice President of a commercial real estate firm. She has served as President of the GFWC Clearwater Junior Woman’s Club, President of Countryside High School PTA as well as Safety Harbor Middle School PTA and Chairman of the Safety Harbor Chamber of Commerce. Marie currently is on the Chamber of Commerce Board, a member of The Rotary Club of Safety Harbor and a member of the Morton Plant Mease Health Care Foundation Task Force Committee. Marie has been involved with the Charter Review Committee as well as the Visionary Committee for the City of Safety Harbor. Marie graduated with a B.S. in Education/English from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.
Treasurer: Denise N. Murphy - Denise is a licensed attorney with a general, business and trial law practice in Safety Harbor. Denise graduated from the University of Central Florida (magna cum laude) with a BA in Political Science and obtained her Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law in St. Petersburg. Denise is a member of the Florida Bar, Clearwater Bar Association and the Safety Harbor Chamber of Commerce. Denise is a Leadership Pinellas 2010 graduate. Her office is in downtown Safety Harbor.
Secretary: Cara Nobles - Cara is an avid volunteer with a passion for working with children. By day she's a real estate professional, working as a national account manager for First American Title. By night, she's a volunteer for whichever Safety Harbor group needs a hand. She's a member of the Friends of the Library, has served on numerous professional committees for business and process development, and is a graduate of the Safety Harbor Citizen's Academy. In her "free time" she is a yoga instructor, currently teaching children’s yoga at Yoga Village. Cara lives in Safety Harbor.
Pam Hoyt Cheever - Pam retired from the Army at the rank of Colonel after serving 30 years. She has had a multitude of military assignment to include assistant professor at West Point, the Pentagon, as well as in multiple combat and hostile environments. She volunteers to support Wounded Warriors through various activities and charitable benefits; and she is a member of the Blue Star Mothers. She has a BA from University of Vermont in Political Science; a MS and PhD from George Mason University in Operations Research.
Scott Long- Scott is the founder and publisher of Ante Up Poker Media LLC, a Clearwater company that publishes a poker magazine and promotes poker events. He received a bachelor's degree in political journalism from Marietta (Ohio) College, and now serves on its Entrepreneurship Advisory Board. He has previously served as a Safety Harbor City Commissioner, a member of City of Safety Harbor's Planning and Zoning Board, Board of Appeals and Public Art Committee and the North Pinellas Cultural Alliance. Scott has also volunteered for several non-profit organizations.
Julie Yeager - Julie is the former Mrs. Countryside and is involved in numerous non-profit organizations including Countryside High School Career Advisory Board. She was formally the communication liason for the Safety Harbor Fire Department and is currently a teacher at Carwise Middle School. Julie resides in Clearwater.
Patrick Mitton - Patrick has a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography from the University of South Florida. He has taught 4th grade in Pinellas county and is currently in the healthcare IT field. Patrick lives in Clearwater with his wife, Anne, and their 1.5 year old son, Lucas. They recently moved there after spending the past 7 years as Safety Harbor residents. Patrick is excited to get involved in local community and fundraising projects.
Jennifer Sedillo - Jennifer is an Associate Professor of Public Health at American Public University System. She is also the director of the Brewing Arts Certificate Program at University of South Florida St. Petersburg. She received her B.S. from University of Massachusetts in Environmental Science, her M.S. from New Mexico State University in Biology, and her PhD from University of South Florida in Public Health. She currently serves as an alternate member of the Safety Harbor Planning and Zoning Board and also a board member of the Safety Harbor Montessori Academy FTA. She is a member of the American Public Health Association and the Master Brewers Association of the Americas and a peer reviewer for the Journal of the American Society of Brewing Chemists. She moved to Safety Harbor in 2017 with her husband, Rodney, and son, Wiley, which is now their forever home. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her family in Safety Harbor and traveling, as well as frequently visiting our great library!
Lisa Kothe - Lisa is the Director of the Safety Harbor Public Library and adviser/liaison to the Board. Prior to Safety Harbor, she worked in the Hillsborough and Clearwater Library Systems. Before changing her career to librarianship she was a project manager with EDS and a vice president in Technology and Operations at Bank of America. Lisa is an alumnus of University of South Florida (MLIS) and University of Rhode Island, where she received her BA in Journalism and Marketing. She mentors at Safety Harbor Elementary School and was the former treasurer of the Lady Cougar Soccer Boosters at Countryside HS and past secretary of SHMS PTSA. She is also an adviser to Friends of the Library Board.
Lana Bullian - Lana is Founder and Director Emeritis member of the Safety Harbor Public Library Foundation. For eight years, Lana was the Director of the Safety Harbor Public Library, bringing the library through an expansion and renovation in April 2009. For most of her library career, Lana worked in Pinellas County libraries. Prior to that, she worked in the medical field managing several physicians offices. A graduate of the University of South Florida, Lana holds a B.A. in Humanities and an MLIS. Now retired, Lana continues to support the Foundation.
